Christmas cookie advent calendar

A virtual advent calendar that you can share with all your friends and family! Twenty-four days of delicious cookie recipes, from Greek classics like melomakarona and kourambiethes, to American favourites like oatmeal raisin and ginger molasses cookies. There is something for everyone to love!

Growing up in a Greek home, my parents always had tins and plastic containers full of cookies. Usually these were one of their many koulourakia, Greek biscuits perfect for dunking into milk or coffee. Around the holidays however they always made additional cookies like melomakarona and kourabiethes. These traditional Greek cookies made the holidays that much sweeter!

I thought it would be fun to prepare a Christmas advent calendar featuring 24 of my favourite cookie recipes. Every day you get to reveal a new cookie recipe by simply clicking on the photo – you will be taken right to the recipe post. Some of them are the classic Greek cookies I grew up with, and some of them are non-Greek favourites that I have been baking for years. I think you will love them all.

I love cookies. It is just a simple truth. This advent calendar showcases 24 of my favourite cookie recipes. There is a great variety here – some Greek, some not, some vegan and there are even a couple of gluten-free cookies too!

The advent calendar is FREE and no-waste. This virtual calendar can be downloaded and shared with your friends and family. You can also share this post, and help spread the Mia Kouppa news!

The cookie recipes in this advent calendar are tested and perfect! Even novice bakers will have success making these cookies. This is a great resource to help inspire you for your Christmas cookie baskets and gift boxes.

To access the calendar simply download it to your computer. It’s FREE!

How to use this calendar

The first step is to download it onto your computer, tablet or phone. Every day from December 1st to 24th there is a photo of a delicious cookie. To find the recipe simply click on the photo and you will be taken to that recipe post. It is that simple!

Now, although an advent calendar is meant to reveal or offer something day by day until you reach the day of Christmas, you can certainly skip ahead and see all these recipes whenever you like. How wonderful would it be to have all these cookies already baked, and then the day they appear in the calendar, you actually eat them!!! Cookie goals!

It was not easy to decide which 24 cookie recipes to include in the calendar – there are so many delicious choices. Here are more cookies I love that just couldn’t fit in the calendar:

Vegan chocolate and strawberry cookies These simple cookies are sweetened with strawberry jam. They contain no eggs, and no dairy, and are a cinch to make.

Ahladakia, pear-shaped cookies I love these pear shaped cookies that actually taste like orange! They are dipped in syrup and are a traditional Greek treat.

Easy 5 ingredient koulourakia My parents whip up these koulourakia regularly. They are simple and have the best texture.

Tsoureki inspired shortbread A classic shortbread flavoured with masticha and mahlepi! A great cookie with a Greek twist.
