Boil water in a large pot. Add entire head of cabbage, and allow it to boil for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 1

Remove your cabbage from the water and let cool slightly. Begin to carefully remove the cabbage leaves.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pot. Saute onion. Add the ground meat, rice and other ingredients. Stir and remove from heat.

Step 3

Add vegetable oil to a large pot. Line the bottom of the pot with the reserved cabbage leaves.

Step 4

Take a cabbage leaf and cut away any hard part. Place some filling in the bottom-center. Fold over. Place the seam side down in the sauce pot.

Step 5

When the cabbage rolls are all in the pot, put the remaining cabbage leaves on top. Add water and tomato sauce. Cook for an hour. Cool and serve!

Step 6

- You can substitute any ground meat that you like. - To make it vegan, replace the meat with ground soy or cooked lentils.
