Galatopita, Greek Milk Custard Pie

Galatopita (sometimes called galopita) is a traditional Greek milk custard pie that is popular in the Peloponnese region of Greece, made especially during Easter.

In a large pan, melt butter. Stir in sugar, milk and salt. Add and stir the beaten eggs until custard is formed. Pour to a prepared baking pan.

Step 1

Spread it out as evenly as possible. Sprinkle the custard generously with cinnamon.

Step 2

Bake for about 50-60 minutes. Cool for 1 hour then refrigerate. Slice and serve.

Step 3

- Leftovers should be kept in the refrigerator where they will keep for 3 - 5 days.. - The type of milk you use will alter the colour of the custard.
